Launching of
Nokia in the android platform is the most awaited moment for all the people
round the globe as it is believed to be the most affordable and trustable
android phone to be released. It is also believed that this new NOKIA X will also
meet high market. As this new phone is created in the competing android
platform where companies like Samsung , Sony has taken the whole market so
Nokia’s maket stategiers put more emphasis to keep the prices as low as
possible to compete the upcoming market.
LAUNCHING:-
This handset
was launched in Barcelona on Monday at the world mobile congress. They will be
running the advanced Nokia X software which is related to the Android Open
Source Project(AOSP).
The Nokia X
resembles the Nokia Lumia devices though
it is based ob android platform. But there is advanced option introduced to access
quickly the most used applications thus making it more smarter. For doing this
you need to swap from left to right edge of your home screen or by simply
pressing the back buttom.
PRICE:-
The new
Nokia X cost about $122 (89 euros) i.e its range lies in the asha phones so it
remains in the budget of the users who are willing to pay a bit more to afford
it. Soon this phone will be launced in India and other countries but its other
models will be available after 6 months. The cost for the X+ version which is
having a SD storage card goes about 99 euros and for the XL version it goes for
109 euros.
A BRIEF OVERVIEW::-
The size of
the screen for both X and X++ will be
4inch while for XL it will be 5 inch as the name implies. All these sets
will be available in all colours as available for asha phones.
As stated
earlier this new version is having a Fastlane version which is used to view the
applications you have used recently so a user need not to scroll down or search
for the most used applications by him as it will be always at the top of the
apps list. The most important features of Fastlane is that it shows what is
coming the next , your calendar reviews , alarm fixing time , when it will ring
and many more.
Again there
are some applications for which a user automatically gets the information in
the form of notifications such updates , previews ans much more. There are also
alert facilities for WeChat (a social network of china) by sending a text
message to the user that if someone has tried to visit your account or
not. A user also got the facility to see
the photos in a small frame and if he likes it then he can tap for gallery to view
the actual size of the photos. Thus it
saves time by not viewing the bad photos and directly viewing the good ones. There
are also features notifying you that which songs you heard the most, who missed
you and the websites recently visited by you.
It may
appear overwhelming to a user to control
so many apps at a time with so many features , so there is a option of blocking
some apps and notifications you don’t need to view and thus their appearance
from the fastlane is omitted. There also an option of applying shortcut to any
one of the social network say Facebook.
Thus lies
the maturity of Fastlane of understanding apps in a more specific and
intelligible way by observing the probability of which apps used for the more
number of time and putting it on the top of the apps list for users use in a
easy way.
Let us take
an example that this week I was totally busy in checking the notifications of
my twiter account but it doesnot justify that it is regularly used by me. So if
it is not used my be often it seems that this app may fall downwards in the
Fastlane list unless I have created a shortcut for this app.
So Nokia
provides a user save the top used app in the favourites list so if also the app
is not used regularly by the user it comes at the top and just can be accessed
easily.
In a similar way if have not used an app for
months then Fastlane assumes that I am bored of using that app and thus
automatically removes it from the fastlane list of top used apps.
Thus it is
seen that the Fastlane feature is not applied by Nokia for its windows phones
but might give a tough competition to its rival Samsung Galaxy SIII as there is
something that should keep Nokia its uniqueness over Samsung products.
Apart from
the fastlane feature on the software side there will be MAPS which will be
controlled by Navigation , for listening to free music there would be NOKIA
MIXRADIO and also a cloud storage memory of 7 GB on the Microsoft drive and
skype. Nokia has also joined hands with
viber to give the lastest apps for this
new model and thus making it more attractive and efficient.
According to
Deepak khurana who is the CEO and co-founder of Vserv.mobi that this new launch
of Nokia X is like killing two birds with a single stone. On one side its feature of
android forces Nokia to robust the kingdom of applications and thus developing
more apps to increase it attractivity thus this development will also help its
windows phones to use the same apps and thus will increase the no of apps to be
purchased and automatically will provide an open market for apps purchasing and
selling.
Thus there
is a possibility for the android to developers to boost up their income by
developing apps for Nokia.
